Kierrah Foundation 5th Annual
" Back to School Celebration"

Back to School Celebration. Click to enlarge

On Sunday Aug. 23, 2009, Lemeirt Park was not only filled with the blazing sounds of the drum circle but it was also filled with love, happiness, laughter, music, dancing and culture which is the norm specifically on Sundays. However on this particular Sunday the amazing joy of some well deserved children made the day just that much sweeter.

The Kierrah Foundation held its annual Back to School Celebration at the legendary Kaos Network. The highlight of the day was "Our" children receiving back packs filled with school supplies and tremendous amount of love and energy that they reciprocated 10 times over.

There were a hosts of celebrity guests who joined in on the festivities such as Michael Colyar, Rickie Byars Beckwith, Kymedienne, Arlyn Royce, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Dudley Perkins, Parker McKenna Posey, Kierrah Star Models Samantha Davis & Kenyatte Smith, the California Dolphins of the Labelle Community Football League and a surprised appearance by Award Winning Actress Alfre Woodard! Phashion Army drove up outside the venue with the Ford Fiesta and the Celebration was turned up a notch. There were cameras everywhere. Phashion Army added to the excitement by presenting Brandy Sanders, Founder of the Kierrah Foundation, with a check on behalf of the Ford Fiesta Movement. The back packs were sponsored by the California Dolphins.

Special Thanks to angels our very own Treaz'ure Lee, Ben Caldwell, Parris Harris, Sandy Wee, Sebastian St. George, Ford Fiesta Movement, Andy and Estela Cruz, Heather Stone, RaShaun Peters, Bea Sweet, Benet, KJLH and Kayla Eckert for making it happen. A very special thanks to angels Naameka White and Elaine DJ One Harley for blessing our babies!! And a EXTRA Special thanks to the angel with the golden wings Brandy Sanders, founder of the Kierrah Foundation, without you none of this would have been possible. You are a true blessing!

ALL GATE PROCEEDS will be presented to the Moore family.

DD Moore passed away due to ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). He won a national championship with the California Dolphins in 2000. He was the Coach of the California Bandits and the Los Angeles Gunslingers. Although his debilitating disease made it impossible to do simple tasks like zipping up a jacket, he still found the strength and the passion to keep coming to practices and games. He was a son, a father, a friend to many, a business man, a coach and a passionate football player. He is missed but not forgotten. Please come out and help us celebrate the life of DD Moore.

We are proud to present the Smith Sistahs, who will be singing the National Anthem.

KAOS NETWORK
4343 LEIMERT PARK BLVD
LOS ANGELES, CA 90008

ABOUT OUR HOST:  Ben Caldwell runs Kaos Network a multimedia training & arts center. Started in 1990 as a meeting place for creative adults and young people, his goal today is for kids and adults to learn and use the new media technology.  He worked with the Brockman Gallery in the 70's while he was a UCLA film student.  He and fellow student Charles Burnett, director of "To Sleep with Anger," would "come to Leimert Park and say, ‘Why don't we do what we're doing in the black community, not run from it?  Figure out what the black community wants, and do it.'"  Ben says, "It's important for me to stay here in the community…it helps to establish consistency in a community that has a lack of consistency." Kaos Network is probably most well-known for Thursday night's "Project Blowed."  Projected Blowed is a hip hop and rap open mike night that gave birth to rappers and rap groups such as Aceyalone, Medusa, Busdriver, Freestyle Fellowship, and Jurassic Five, and continues to provide an atmosphere where up-and-coming rappers can hone their skills.

The La Belle Community Football League (LCFL) is one of the newest and most competitive minor league football organizations in America. The LCFL provides skilled football players a forum to display and refine their skills as they make an attempt to reach a professional level of the sport. Made up of the some of the best teams and talent on the West Coast, the South, and the East Coast, the LCFL has attracted the attention of several professional leagues and has successfully graduated several players to professional teams throughout the U.S.

The LCFL was established in 2003 by Mr. Damascene Pierre Paul. Mr. Paul originally started the league in the Philadelphia, PA area to give young men the opportunity to keep playing the game they love. Legendary entertainer and philanthropist Ms. Patti LaBelle endorses the league by lending her name and likeness which she supports by being visibly involved in the interactions with the league. The LCFL currently has a total of 32 teams nationwide, with 20 representing the West Coast.
